Every year, all members of New Directions Community Credit Union are invited to participate in the credit union’s membership meeting. This gives members the opportunity to meet the credit union’s volunteer Board of Directors and hear about the credit union’s finances, operations, and growth. Board of Director elections are also held at the annual meeting.

New Directions Community Credit Union members are cordially invited to attend our 50th annual meeting. Reservations are required for the breakfast, so attendees must sign up at either office to receive a ticket by September 6th. Member tickets are free of charge and guest tickets are $10 each. Since this year marks our 50th anniversary, we wanted to share some of the history that brought us to where we are today.

In June 1974, Franklin Credit Union was started by the employees of Franklin Steel. Over the next three decades, several other credit unions joined together with Franklin Credit Union, including Conair Employees FCU, CPT Franklin FCU, Oil City Glass Employees FCU, CCG Plant 65 FCU, Quaker State Home Office FCU, and Oil City Postal Employees CU.

Pennzoil Federal Credit Union was established in 1959 and in 1986 changed their name to Oil Region Federal Credit Union. Then in December 2004, Franklin Credit Union and Oil Region Federal Credit Union came together to form Franklin-Oil Region Credit Union.

In 2022 we opened the year with an expanded community charter which now allows us to serve anyone who lives, works, worships, volunteers, attend schools in, regularly conducts business in, or who own a business in Venango, Forest, Warren and Crawford Counties, Pennsylvania. The addition of Crawford, Forest and Warren counties gives us more opportunity for future growth.

In June 2024, we officially changed our name to New Directions Community Credit Union. New Directions is a reflection of the journey that our credit union has taken over the past several years and that we will continue to take to evolve and move the credit union forward. Our goal is to make the credit union sustainable so that we can serve our members for many years to come!

If not for the hard work and dedication of these credit unions, we would not be where we are today. Our hope is that each founding member will see the value in the changes we are making and they will feel proud of their accomplishments that brought us to this pivotal moment in our credit union’s history.
